Okay, anyone know who's good friends with whom?

For starters:

Lucas, Spielberg, Scorcese, Coppola, Zemeckis are, by most accounts, good friends.
I think also Ron Howard has relatively recently joined their circle. And I expect there are others I have ommitted (Keital?)

Lucas and Scorcese and I think Zemeckis went to film school at the same time.

Lucas met Coppola as part of a visit to Coppola's Finnigan's Rainbow.

Ron Howard was, of course in American Graffitti.

Spielberg was at a pre-screening of Star Wars, before most of the effects were done. He was one of the only people there who liked it. They of course went on to do Indy Jones stuff.

If these ppl hadn't met each other at the right time, who knows where they'd be? (Okay, Coppola was already established, and Spielberg probably would've made it too).

I also find it bizarre that Mel Smith directed Radioland Murders for Lucas.

Anyway what I am trying to say is, you never know who you might know now.

As they say, be nice to your runner since you could be working for them a few years later!!!!
